“A serious house on serious earth it is
In whose blent air all our compulsions meet”
Church Going, Philip Larkin

A history of a church building and graveyard encompasses more than dates, stones and mortar.  Stories are to be found which uniquely testify to human endeavour and faith.  St. John’s church, Kill, is filled with such stories, gleaned from headstones, memorials, dedications, architecture and local memory.

In celebration of the bicentenary of St John’s, we have produced a book detailing some of those stories, which may be purchased below.

On this page are a variety of images and historical documents relating to St John’s that will be of interest to anyone researching the history of this wonderful church.

May God bless you,

Rev’d Philip Heak
